Dear Liberal Arts Undergraduates: 

I hope this message finds you well.  

I am writing to notify you that effective today (May 31), Penn State University Park is returning to required indoor masking in all campus buildings as the result of high COVID-19 community levels in Centre County. In this respect, we are joining a growing list of Penn State campuses that similarly have reinstated required indoor masking due to high local COVID-19 numbers. For additional details, please read the Penn State News item about the University’s shift. 

I recognize the heavy toll that the pandemic has had on you and your friends and families, and I look forward to recapturing the sense of normalcy we were beginning to feel around campus as soon as possible. I will continue to keep you informed about further changes in relevant COVID-related University policies and practices as we head into the summer.
