Update from the Dean regarding federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate

To: Liberal Arts Faculty, Staff, Graduate Students and Post Docs
From: Clarence Lang

Dear Colleagues:

I hope that this brief message finds you well. As you likely are aware by now, Penn State today has announced that all University Park employees must submit proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8. This includes full-time and part-time faculty, and staff and technical workers (including those working remotely), as well as graduate and undergraduate students supported through part-time employment or assistantships at the University. This measure is meant to comply with a recent federal order requiring vaccination for all federal workers, contractors, and others. Where appropriate, the University will allow medical and religious exemptions.

If you have not already been vaccinated, you should begin the process of scheduling your vaccination without further delay. Given the federally determined December 8 deadline, the last day that individuals can logistically get their final dose to be in compliance is November 24. My office is awaiting further information about implementation. As more information and guidance become available, I look forward to being in communication again, as often as necessary, with further updates.

Regards,
Clarence
